Knap Tours helped me plan a quick weekend trip to Black Rhino Lodge at Pilanesberg National Park. I was in Johannesburg for business meetings and Knap helped me enjoy the weekend with multiple game drives. They arranged private shuttle service, as well as the lodging and guide services at Black Rhino. The experience was great and the PNP was not crowded. Game viewing was good and the service at the lodge was top notch. Knap was helpful with info and reminders, and all of the arrangements were exactly as promised. I recommend them to anyone travelling to SA!

We were somewhat cautious about booking an "organised" tour having only done so once previously and been greatly disappointed. Not so on this occasion! From starting the booking process Knap Tours were attentive and responsive and communication was superb. We were picked up from our Cape Town Hotel by our Tour Guide, Macdonald, and, as good fortune would have it, we were the only people on the tour so had a lovely comfortable SUV to ourselves with Macdonald. He proved himself to be an excellent driver (this comment from someone who is a lousy passenger!), very flexible and cogniscent of our interests and an amusing companion. We are both less young than we once were (76 and 82) and he tailored the activities with this in mind! All accommodation was excellent and of a high standard and each day we took Macdonald's recommendation of restaurants and experienced a variety of different cuisines, without exception enjoying every one. We visited Mossel Bay, Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, Knysna, Bloukrans Bridge (where we declined the opportunity to Bungee Jump!), Tsitsikamma Forest (where with the encouragement and accompaniment of Macdonald one of us managed the River Mouth Walk!), Jeffrey's Bay, Addo Elephant National Park and Oudtschoorn. It's difficult to pick out highlights but and Botlierskop Game Reserve was really beautiful and had a good variety of game and we were able to see some fascinating interaction between species. We finished with a sundowner in the peace and quiet observing the wildlife. Driving through the Garden Route was a lovely experience but, scenically, driving through the Klein Karoo was amazing, such different and spectacular scenery and quite unexpected. We had to miss one highlight which was Cango Caves but, due to recent storms, the road had been washed away. The tour was really good value, not grossly expensive but of a high standard. We really cannot recommend Knap Tours enough and look forward to perhaps taking another tour with them on our next visit to South Africa.

Safari was excellent. The Knap team (e.g., Macdonald and Julian) was very professional, communicative, helpful, responsive, and we really enjoyed the one-day safari experience. We got to see so many different animals within seconds of starting the Safari; the game reserve and facilities were very clean, nice, and welcoming (their staff was lovely). The food was delicious and healthy (we had breakfast and lunch there). I also got to enjoy swimming in the very nice pool. Travel was very smooth & MacDonald was sharing information along the way. Half day safari was great thanks. Early Morning is the Perfect time of day to see lots of animals. We saw Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeast, Kudu, Springbok. My guide Alion was an interesting, friendly and knowledgeable guide. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed this experience. The Buffeldrift Lodge is a beautiful place to stay and to experience wild animals.

Macdonald was extremely friendly, patient and knowledgeable.

We had a wonderful Winelands tour with Macdona with Knap tours. We were picked up on time and enjoyed our drive to the Stellenbosch area. We visited 3 wineries and had delicious tastings at each. Macdonald also brought us to a restaurant in the town of Stellenbosch, The Wine Glass, and we had a wonderful conversation with Macdonald at lunch. The wineries visited were wonderful. The last one also had olive oils to sample. The Vineyards were top tier and we enoyed the beautiful scenery during the drive. We also used Knap tours to pick us up at the airport and bring us to our hotel when we arrived in Cape Town. Macdonald greeted us after we exoted baggage cllaim with our name on a sign,.no waiting! We highly this awesime service. We already have booked our airport drop offs with them as well.

A service that puts you at ease

From start to finish, the process was seamless. Contacted them initially to enquire about a transfer and they responded within 20 mins with all the information needed. Price was so reasonable in comparison to other transfer options. A WhatsApp group was made the day before with times and information provided. Simba transferred us from Cape Town to Sanbona wildlife reserve and his service was exceptional. Arrived promptly, put us at ease the entire journey, allowing us to stop when needed, providing great tunes and giving us really interesting information on the area. Took a beautiful scenic route. Cannot recommend enough and would advise checking with this company first before taking the transfers offered by the places you are going as they are usually double in price.

Brilliant organisation at very short notice

Julian put together our last-minute three-day safari trip to Namibia at one day’s notice and stayed in touch to make sure all the arrangements went smoothly (they did). He responded immediately to our initial enquiry. We were met at the airport by our driver/guide Jeff, who was excellent, knowledgeable and attentive, so our experience in Etosha National Park was truly amazing. We would thoroughly recommend Knap Tours.

The accommodation on camp and the guides and vehicles for the safari were all outstanding. I had such an easy few days and managed to see more wildlife than I anticipated. Highly recommended.

Well organised and thoughtfulness

We joined Knap Tours for the one day trip to Aquila Safari. This trip was well organised and exceeded expectation. A few days before departure, Knap Tours created a WhatsApp group chat for enquiries and confirmation of pick-up time and spot. Our tour guide and driver, McDonald (Markus), was reliable and friendly, drove safely and comfortably, while still keeping us on top of schedule. The welcome drinks, buffet breakfast and lunch at Aquila exceeded expectations. We were lucky to see lots of animals at Aquila .. lions, zebras, giraffe, hippo, rhino, elephants, springboks, elephants … If you only plan to spend 1-day at Safari, this is the one!

Professional Efficient Service

As a first time visitor to South Africa, I was unsure who to go to or the standard procedures for booking a safari trip. Knap set up communication on WhatsApp and patiently went through all the steps in detail, before I booked and paid money. They delivered on every aspect of the booking, and MacDonald was an excellent guide. All in all, in my opinion you won’t go wrong with these guys.

Communications with Knap tours were excellent. They were very responsive and gave me a whatsapp group for any questions or problems arising which was particularly valued as a solo traveller. The tour itself was excellent with amazing game drives, excellent catering, and a very comfortable camping experience. Drivers all turned up on time and were helpful and good company. All in all had an amazing time and could not fault anything.

Perfect 3 day safari trip

We are so happy with these guys , the tour they had us on was life changing and was fantastic, they organised all our transfers and were promt with everything and we had the best drivers and tour guides we could ask for. Will definetley use these guys again when we come back next year.

Unfortunately, we did not get what we were promised: a calculated and cynical move by Knap Tours

Hi, It's heartbreaking to share this story, but I feel fellow travelers need to understand how Knap Tour operates - and communicates. November 2, I was contacted by Knap Tours after I asked for a quote on Safaribookings.com November 3, I talked to their MD on phone to make sure we were on the same page. He confirmed everything in writing. November 4, I wired money for the 3day trip with Knap Tours November 5, the trip, with accomodation was confirmed in writing So far.... so good. But what was supposed to be a dream trip with my 12 year old daughter turned out to be a nasty surprise as we arrived to the lodge. Our guide received a phonecall 1 hour before we arrived. He said that the lodge was full, there had overbookings and standard procedure was to pass on guests to an Ostrich Farm. We refused as the plan was to stay at the lodge. We were offered another place, turned it down, and offered to be driven back to Cape Town with full reimbursement (6 hours drive... don't think so) and my daughter started crying. I called the MD and asked what was going on and he told me he'd just been informed about the non existing Luxury Tent at the lodge. I found it all very suspicious. During this converstation with the MD from Knap Tours, I was offered 10% reimbursement. We had to stay at the new accomodation but upon arrival to the lodge the day after I talked to the MD and booking manager at the lodge who found it all very odd, so they checked. Nov 3, Knap Tours asked for a reservation Nov4, the lodge replied that they had no tents or any accomodation for NYE. So... Knap Tours sold me something that was not theirs to sell. They lied about the process (the lodge confirmed this and told me they would never refer any guest to the Ostrich Farm) and they knew very well that we could not go back to Cape Town. They made a bet we'd accept it without a fight. Fortunately the lodge was helpful and let us stay in one of their tents (just had a cancellation) for NYE. When I asked for the 10% reimbursement once back, the MD was most rude to me and then ignored me and my messages. So: be aware - these guys promise you things they cannot keep, they bet you are not willing to fight for what you have been promised and they are cynical and most rude. Stay away from Knap Tours and make sure you chose a serious agency if you do a once-in-a-lifetime- trip Honestly, //Jakob

Amazing trip to South Africa

My husband, my daughter and myself had Our own private adventure with Knap tours and it has been one of the most memorables and close to heart for us. We were very impressed with all the logistics and warm hospitality not only from the CEO himself Julian but from every single staff.. Patrick was our driver in Krugger National Park. His expertise and warm personality made us feel safe at all times. We were able to see many different types of animals in their habitat, lions, zebras, giraffes, hippos, buffalo, leopard, hyenas, lost of antílopes, monkeys etc….. it was amazing ! The sunrise 🌅 safari was a highlight for us McDonald was one of drivers in Cape Town. We enjoyed having him. The accommodations in CapeTown at the Belle Maroc hotel boutique was very cozy, our room had a ocean view balcony overlooking table mountain ⛰️ They were only 10 rooms with a private chef 🧑‍🍳 We saw/did a lot while in Cape Town and I could just go on and on … Bottom line is Knap tours really went above and beyond to made this one of the best trips we have had so far and we travel a lot 🧳 We recommend Knap tours with our hesitation. They are the best and we are hoping to book again with them another of their many destinations and itineraries.

Knap Tours arranged our overnight safari at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge, 5 hours north of Cape Town. The safari experience was most excellent, but this review is about the tour company, which manages safaris in several countries, and there are quite a few options for safaris in each area. We had hoped to visit a safari closer to Cape Town, but when it filled up too soon for us, Knap found us another option and worked with our schedule and budget. They went the extra mile to get us there with the expert driving and guidance of Macdonald our driver, who was very laid back with the customs and rules of South Africa, and a very enjoyable conversationalist. We would definitely recommend Knap Tours in the future.

Fantastic support for a wonderful safari

Knap Tours organized a 2 day excursion from Cape Town to Buffelsdrift game reserve. Having lived in East Africa I wondered she it would be like. MAcDonald our driver from Cape Town was totally engaging for the 5 hour ride and helped us acclimatize to the reserve setting. After an arrival lunch we went on a 2 hour safari with Sonia - a lazy landcover stroll through the 1500 hectare estate. Several types of antelope, and giraffe, zebra and buffalo were on the travel menu. The following morning we also saw meerkats, rhinoceroses and elephants. The trip home with MacDonald was fabulous with a stop at Four Cousins for lunch. My only wish was that the stay at Buffelsdrift was longer - they have night, cheetah and lion safaris also. Knap did a great job organizing all of this. We will use them again for sure.

Safari with Knap

I had a really good 4 days, I especially enjoyed the Afternoon safari! Accommodation transportation and trips were well organised and I cannot at all Complain at all. Also me being vegetarian was not a problem and one offerd always a vegetarian option. Only For me its was too cold quite often (may be a personal feeling) during that season, others enjoyed it especially because of that.

Well organised tour of Botswana national parks

We organised a private tour of Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta through Knap Tours, including pick up from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. The tour was well organised, and there was great communication from Julian before and during the tour. We ended up having an incredible four days, and I would not hesitate to recommend Knap Tours for any safari arrangements in the region.

Transfer from Hazyview to Nelspruit Airport Communication and service was way above and beyond. He ensured to stay connected at all times, and made sure my group was safe in pick ups and arrivals which were all very punctual and friendly people. Overall quotes were fair and prices were great. Beyond expectations. A fabulous first Safari in Africa!

I had the most wonderful safari experience on Feb 23rd this year. The whole day was just beyond my expectations in every way possible. Firstly, there were rains forecast, similar to the previous 3 days, which didn't happen. Secondly, almost immediately after arrival at the park gate I was assigned a driver, absolutely no hanging about and we were off. Within 5mins we had seen Hippos! yes, Hippos, four of them in fact. It was incredible. We then saw zebras, wildebeest, elephants aplenty, rhinos and the most elusive of all cheetahs. It was a six hour drive with a break for lunch in-between that just whizzed by. Thank you Theo (?) the driver for providing such an amazing experience. It really was a fabulous day and definitely the highlight of my stay. Thank you Julian too for all the organising and communication.

Knap Tours five day Garden Route Tour was a great experience. Macdonald, our Driver/Tour guide, was first class, very knowledgeable and happy to tailor the tour to our needs and abilities ( both being on the older side!). Wonderful game viewing at Botlierskop Game Park, terrific scenery through the Klien Karoo, sunset drive through Addo elephant Park to mention just a few highlights. The itinerary was well planned and all accommodation very comfortable. All in all, we cannot rate this trip highly enough.

Knap Tours organized a tour for me to Sossusvlei & Deadveli recently. Their level of communication before and during the entire journey was exceptional. They created a WhatsApp group for me to text with them and they were HIGHLY responsive - within seconds to minutes. If anything was errant when dealing with the lodge reception they were quickly to call directly and handle it themselves. Additionally, their logistical coordination with transfers and drivers is best-in-class. 10/10 would highly recommend booking with them.

A well thought out and interesting five-day tour with a variety of different sites and hotels. For me, the highlight of this tour was the visit toTsitsikamma National Park. McDonald, the driver, was excellent: a very careful driver and an excellent conversationalist.

Pros: Our 2 drivers were friendly, accommodating, punctual, safe drivers. Overall, they were great. Simba especially made sure we enjoyed our time. The office stayed in close contact via whatsapp with us during the trip to ensure all was going well. The office staff provided great optional activities for downtime. The wine tour and Waterfront visits were great. The stay at Belle Maroc was lovely. Cons: There seemed to be lack of communication between the drivers and office staff. For example, the driver received the itinerary piece by piece from the office throughout the day and was not aware of plans ahead of time. The drivers were just that, and not trained tour guides with expert information on the area. This was not the fault of the drivers and I want to reiterate that they were great people. However, the company should at least provide training and education on the area, which I've experienced with other tour companies. The Aquila Game Reserve felt manufactured and inauthentic compared to others in the area. The animals were fed in specific places to ensure they were seen, the animals were overly comfortable around humans and lacked a wild feel, and the lions were kept in a much smaller confined area separate from the others. Though this is more an issue with Aquila, this spot was still chosen by the tour company. The itinerary named Franschoek and Stellenbosch as the 2 areas visited on the wine country day. The tour company tried to only take us to one of them, saying the second was listed "in error." Thankfully, after sending a screenshot of the itinerary to the office, they added in he second town as advertised. The wine tastings were scheduled to begin at 9am. This was mentioned in the itinerary, however, that seems very early to start wine tastings.
